St. Paul South Africa Workshop

About St. Paul

Founder, Artisan, Architect, Believer

“This is not mass production. This is memory, made by hand.”

The Beginning

Workshop craftsmanship

In 2015, my father Paul began crafting wooden pens in the quiet corners of our home. Just a hobby, he said. But to me, it was the beginning of something sacred. I apprenticed under his wing, learning the weight of workmanship, the patience of polish, and the joy of creating something that lasts.

My grandfather, a pastor with a gentle wit, used to call my dad “St. Paul”—a nickname that stuck like a blessing. My father named his little pen shop “St. Paul Pens,” and when the time came to grow the vision, I carried the name forward.

What I Create

Artisan at work

Today, St. Paul SA is more than a store. It's a living workshop of faith-infused craftsmanship. I design and build everyday objects—pens, boxes, watches, knives, lighters, bottle openers—each one bespoke, each one made special by exotic South African woods, custom-cast resins, and the quiet art of engraving.

These are not just tools. They are vessels of memory, meaning, and beauty.

The Workshop

Workshop tools and materials

My workshop is a blend of old soul and modern edge. I engrave with a fiber laser and shape with two lathes: a speed lathe for wood, and a screw lathe for intricate metalwork. My CO₂ laser machine has been rebuilt more times than I can count—each iteration a testament to persistence and precision.

Every piece I make passes through these hands, these machines, and this heart.

Built from the Ground Up

Precision craftsmanship

I studied software engineering not to chase trends, but to craft a storefront worthy of the products I believe in. Default templates never cut the mustard. So I built my own—from the ground up—with modern web technologies and a privacy-first architecture that honors both form and function.

What you see here is intentional, modular, and made to serve.

The Foundation

Detail and dedication

My faith is the blueprint behind it all. The order, the structure, the perfection I strive for—it's all inspired by the One who designed creation itself. Every customer I serve, every detail I refine, is an echo of that devotion.

Featured craftsmanship

You may have heard of St. Paul SA on RSG Radio, SAFM, Moneyweb, or SOUTH magazine. But I hope you'll feel it more deeply here—in the grain of the wood, the curve of the pen, the story behind each piece.

Global Reach, Local Heart

Handcrafted with care

I speak Afrikaans at heart, but I write and build in English. Most of my customers are local, but I've shipped across the globe—and I welcome anyone who values the rare, the rooted, and the real.
